Gathered at Sun Plaza, Sembawang and set off for Mount Faber at about 8.00 am. The trek starts off a Mount Faber. embark on the meandering trail of Faber Walk and take in the panoramic views of southern Singapore and the coastal seas. the trail led to Henderson Waves. From the other end of Henderson Waves, trek across the 34-hectare Telok Blangah Hill Park through the Hilltop Walk. Brush past the thick canopy of trees and take a bird's eye view of the forest and contine some 50m along the raised walkways of the Forest Walk which connects to Alexandra Arch. The bridge that leads to HortPark - the gardnening hub which marks the end of our trek.Henderson WavesSingapore's highest pedestrian bridge, it spans Henderson Road to connect Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park. Its interesting sculptural wave-form is made up of seven curved "ribs". They form alcoves that alternately rise over and under the bridge deck, providing visitors with shelter and seats within. The wave-forms are lit with warm lighting at night. Next up on the Hilltop Walk, look out for Alkaff Mansion on your right, and make a short detour to Terrace Garden for a quick photo-stop.
The modules of the elevated walkway derived their design from the triangular-shaped leaves of the fast-growing "Mile-a-Minute" plant, which is native to the area. The elevated walkway rises to between three and 18 metres above ground in the hilly terrain, and expands into viewing decks at selected locations to enable visitors to pause and take in the scenic natural surroundings. Keep your eyes peeled for pitcher plants and romping monkeys. For a more rugged experience, go on the Earth Trail through the secondary forest of Telok Blangah Hill Park.
The other iconic bridge in the walk that spans Alexandra Road like an open leaf boasts a curved deck and tilted arch. It links the Floral Walk to the Horticulture Park, or HortPark, for short. The bridge dazzles with colour-changing and moving LED lights between 7pm and 12am daily.
The latest addition to the National Parks Board's series of thematic parks, HortPark is Southeast Asia's first one-stop gardening and lifestyle hub. It brings together gardening-related recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one roof in a park setting. The hub also serves as a park connector, linking Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park.
